Day 18 of 22 – travel to Rio – updated

Today I’ll be travelling to Rio but not till 4.30 pm so this morning is a lazy day till we depart the hotel at 2 pm.

Not sure if I’ll post any photos today but you never know so check back later😁. Although by the time I get to the hotel in Brazil you’ll all be tucked up in bed🤣

I’ll tell you the story of my lost pre paid travel card…

So in Bariloche in Argentina, the only country I couldn’t get any currency for, I went to the HSBC bank to withdraw money. I used the ATM and carried on with the day. After about 2 hours I realised I didn’t have my card. I’d only taken my purse out twice in that time so I returned to the restaurant twice (as the first time it was closed) and it hadn’t dropped out there. I stopped the card and found my back up card.

It played on my mind because I was certain I would have noticed if I had dropped the card.

The next day was Monday so I went back to the bank which was now fully open with staff to serve you to ask if my card had been retained by the machine. I recalled that the ATM (because I’d also used it before but didn’t get enough money out because I hadn’t done the conversion right) gave you your money and then the receipt and then asked you if you wanted another service (all in Spanish) and only after all that did it give you your card back, unlike ATM’s in the UK. I thought that I might have put my money away and taken the receipt and forgot to do the last bit.

A very nice man helped me and sure enough my card was there😁👍. He took a copy of my passport and returned my card. Result😁
