Day 7 of 19 – travel to Sofia

So today we are traveling to Sofia and Google maps says it’s 4 hours 27 minutes! So allowing for travel and wee breaks and interrogation by border police x 2 (Serbia then Bulgaria) and getting lost I’ll be very disappointed if we’re not there by 3pm! I’ll report back later. That’s 2pm your time😆

I have nothing to do till 4pm! I hadn’t factored in that we gain another hour moving into Bulgaria so I’ll post some more photos from yesterday and some sunny ones from today🤷🏻‍♀️. I may be duplicating photos again!

So is this a Liz ism. We’re driving along and Liz says “if you look over to the right (and at this point you think she’s going to point out a landmark) and you see that cloud, it’s a cloud but it looks like a snow topped mountain” I think every home should have a Liz🤣

It’s a shame that we didn’t have nice weather yesterday in Belgrade. Hopefully Sofia will be better today/tomorrow

So… I’ve spotted a piglet on the right and Road Runner underneath and a giant foot on the left hand side🤣

So I learned in China to carry toilet paper everywhere I go and it’s stood me in good stead so far as some service station toilets do not have toilet paper☺️

So I just had a thought about this 2 hour time difference. Does that mean at the Serbian border you’re 1 hour ahead but cross over by 100 metres into Bulgaria and you become 2 hours ahead🤔 . What about going to work over the border? You’ll either be at work or back at home an hour early or an hour late. You pop to the shops and are gone for 2 hours or you’re back before you went! 😆

I think these must work for the civil service! I wasnt sure if they were searching the car or trying to fix it! I think they were trying to fix it as they were then joined by 2 others. Five in total whilst there’s queues of cars trying to get through the border🤦🏻‍♀️

So Liz likes to give us information about each country except Serbia because she couldn’t because she had no signal on her ipad🤦🏻‍♀️. So she’s telling us about Bulgaria and talking about the different DNA of people in Bulgaria different neanderthal. She proceeds to tell us about an article she read about covid and that research shows that the more neanderthal you are the more likely we are to suffer with covid! Nigel aka Johnny Vegas was really ill with covid and she wasn’t so she said that that must mean Nigel is more neanderthal than me and bursts out laughing. She said don’t tell him I said that. He’s driving the coach! 😆

So we hit Sofia at 3.57pm and got to hotel at 4.15pm. I’m now 2 hours ahead🤦🏻‍♀️
