Should be back on English soil by 1pm all being well. Feel like we’re going to be at the starting line of a wacky races race! We have to get to Calais by 10.30 am to stand any chance of getting on our ferry 🥵. Set off time 7.15 am. Any time now. I may write some more whilst on the journey. Back later x
Has anyone seen a football table this big before!

This would have been a nice hotel to stay in longer, not just a sleep over🙄

PS. Daryl said this morning that he’s going to move as he doesn’t want to live in the pig’s bum🤣
So last night I was trying to find out what the four spires represented on the clock tower in Sighsioara as they represent something completely different than the four spires on the gateway to the old town of Brasov. I think it’s still the ‘right to’ however not the right to chop your head off! Anyway whilst doing so the travel writer was very complimentary about Sighsioara and I learned the steps we went up are called the scholars steps. So maybe worth a second visit and even pop in and see where allegedly Vlad the Impaler drew his first breath🤣

So back to Dracula’s Castle as Queen Mary got older she didn’t want to keep climbing the steep steps up to the castle so she had a lift installed in the well! Think it’s that grey bit there that takes you down along side the original lift. I haven’t got a photo of the lift or the steep climb up to the Castle so I’ll ask Sue if she’s got photos.

So going back to Budapest I’ve made notes on my phone about it being compulsory to go to church. I’ll have to Google this however I think it was when they wanted to change the faith to Christianity and it was slow on the uptake that it was made compulsory to go to church every week🤷🏻♀️
Still in Budapest!
Pest dates back 2000 years to the roman empire. Buda was where the the Romans lived. Pest means oven. Because of smog in Buda the Romans moved all the ovens to Pest so there’d be no smog in Buda🤔😆
Budapest has been under seige 41 times apparently so they are well used to it. Underneath the Buda castle district there are a labyrinth of tunnels for people to escape down to from their homes when under attack.
On the church of our lady in the Buda castle district there is a black tower which represents King Matayas who formed the black army. The black bird is also to do with him and there’s a story about his mother but I can’t remember what it was🤦🏻♀️

The Church of our lady used to be a Turkish mosque which burnt down in a fire so when it was rebuilt they kept some of the Turkish architecture.
Back to Brasov. The black church took 100 years to build a they kept getting interrupted by plagues and men people died so they couldn’t carry on building it hence the long time🤷🏻♀️
These are potentially the last of the holiday photos on the ferry☺️. Promise x
