Day 10 of 19 – walking tour of Veliko Tarnovo then Arbanasi and then on to Romania

The view today at breakfast

I’ll be back later with more photos!

So I guessed right in as much as we walked last night most of where we walked today with the exception of going to the entrance of the fortress. Most of the little back streets were really quaint and would have been lovely and romantic if you were walking with a partner however walking in a tour group of eleven it didn’t quite have the same effect😆

I’m going to quickly add photos whilst I have Internet and I’ll add captions later 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

If it looks like a fortress it probably is😆
In the style of Alexander Nevsky cathedral in Sofia
Can’t remember however think you wear it to ward off evil spirits🤣
Art museum
Taken from off street viewing platform. Made my stomach churn😆
Artists at work
This was the former first parliament building, now a museum

This monument, now from a different perspective, is to commemorate four Kings. I just don’t know which ones! 😆

So going back to the light show last night. It happens every night in summer. According to the guide today people pay to see it which I found very odd when you can see it from wherever you are. However the light show booth and ticket office is next to the church we went to. The one looking a bit like the cathedral in Sofia with the domes. It’s very high up and would be a good viewing platform. The photo below was taken from that point.

My photos and videos of the a show are really not good however I’m sure you could YouTube it

So another Liz ism. We’ve left Veliko Tarnovo and heading for the Romanian border. After about an hour we are passing a long queue of stationary lorries. Liz says “so here we are approaching the border. Not so long ago these lorries could be waiting two and a half days” we then pass these lorries and there’s nothing queuing in either lane to which Liz says “I don’t know what happened there we’re 50 kilometres from the border” WHAT!🙄🤣

So finally made it to Bucharest. I didn’t put down to do the optional tour for tomorrow because Liz said it was a coach sight seeing trip but just now she’s said it’s a walking tour. Hey ho. I have my map so it’ll be fun to explore by myself. Please call the police tomorrow if you don’t get a blog🤦🏻‍♀️

Just some photos from the coach trip in. Guess I’ll take better ones when I’m on for tomorrow!

We’ve seen lots of these car washing stations and they’re always busy
Suited and booted. Must have come straight from work!
Colourful buildings
What? This was outside a hotel. Please enlighten me!
This has got to be the smallest room so far🤦🏻‍♀️🤣
