So before tomorrow I’ll try and talk a bit before the photos..
So Puglia has a silent g pronounced Pulia
Cats are protected under a 1991 law. It is a criminal offence to harm a cat… how could you..

Cats are actually like royalty in Italy and ‘Rome’ around like they own the place. They probably actually do! They may have been left property by their owners!😆
Matera has the 3rd highest year’s of life of 10,000 after Jerico that had 13,000 year’s of life. Co Pilot said that means it’s been continously inhabited for that many years. Who knew!
People in Matera lived in cave houses until the 1950’s
Going back to Ostuni…. a 20 year old pregnant woman’s remains were found in a cave in 1991, dating back 28,000 years. She appears to have died during child birth. Her body is in the museum in Ostuni. It was closed when we were there
We travelled through Altamura on route to Matera. In 1999 significant dinosaur track sites were found with over 4,000 footprints. In 1993 the complete skeleton of Chichilo the ancient Altramura man was discovered
The Sassi district of Puglia is a UNESCO heritage site
Films filmed in Matera include
No time to die
Ben Hur
Wonder Woman
The Passion of Christ
Mary Magdalene
Why? Because of the timeless architecture and the haunting beauty.
It was too hot to explore as much as I would have liked but definitely a place to revisit

Today we leave this hotel and move to Villa Americana Park Hotel in Rodi Garganico for 3 nights
On to Bari….
As with so many cities they are too big for seeing in a couple of hours. They’ve a new part and an old part and we go to the old part. Sooo some photos..

And onto the octagonal castle..

More cats!
