Day 8 of 19 – City tour of Sofia

So last night Johnny had a melt down in the restaurant and I think it was all the vegetarians faults😆

It didn’t start well because we were told dinner was from from 7 pm till 10 pm and to go down anytime and not a preset time like previous hotels. Apparently the chef hadn’t even turned up by then🤦🏻‍♀️

I was waiting to see if Sue said anything about being a vegetarian to the waitress. We’ve had buffet the last 2 nights so it didn’t matter. At the last minute she did, so that was okay. However I think chef had only prepared 3 vegetarian meals but there’s more than 3 although this is where it becomes complicated because some are pretend vegetarians (or Mandy vegetarians 😆) and then there’s a non vegetarian who doesn’t like cheese on his food. But I don’t think any of this is being communicated first by the traveller or then maybe by Leger. So Johnny shouted at the top of his voice. GET IT SORTED NOW OR YOU’RE PAYING FOR THESE PEOPLE TO GO AND GET FOOD ELSEWHERE. SORT IT NOW! Eck. You have to imagine him saying that just like Johnny Vegas, accent and all. Hilarious 😆

My food was fine by the way although the mash was instant🤦🏻‍♀️ They’ll probably fly Jamie Oliver in to prepare tonight’s meal🤣

What do you make of this. My room is 1220. Which way would you go! 🤣

Anyway I’m off for breakfast and sightseeing. So expect photos later!

I will be thinking about Our Queen today. You never know I may get to see some footage as we are 2 hours ahead.

We had a minutes silence on the coach before the tour😪

OKAY PHOTO ALERT!!

I’ve had a lovely day around Sofia today first our guided tour and then we had free time. So my memory recall isn’t good so probably won’t remember all the buildings.

This is the cathedral of Alexander Nevsky. I think!
It’s an orthodox cathedral so there’s no musical instruments just the choir singing and there’s no seats so everyone stands up. It was so nice in there. I’ve never been anywhere like this before
This is Sue who went to get 12 candles to light, not fork handles😆
We weren’t supposed to take photos hence the cloak and dagger photos🤣
Next was the oldest building I think in Sofia the church of St Sofia. Not as grand as the previous building!
Monument to the unknown soldier
This was a Russian building. I’ll have to find out which one! Sorry. Nice pretty though
A lovely fountain
The theatre
The presidents residence
This is a former communist building
Found out today that this building is the former Bath house and is now a museum which we went into
Synagogue
And a protest outside former communist building
Natural spring water. It was so hot I could have had a bath in it except……
……. except I wasn’t allowed to😪🤣
If you feel so inclined you can have this translated to know what’s in the water😊
Statues
An original newspaper stand
Please feel free to enlighten me😊
Lunch🥰
And here she is. Told you I’d get better photos. St Sofia herself😄
At the restaurant. Good job I left mine in the hotel🤦🏻‍♀️
Follow follow follow follow, follow the yellow brick road.

I have many many more photos of roman ruins and roman roads however I think you had enough of those yesterday 🥰

Last night in this hotel and off to Plovdiv tomorrow a mere 1hr 50 drive.

Off to dinner shortly. May report back later or in the morning as to what that consists of!
