Day 14 of 19 – travel to Sighisoara then to Cluj Napoca

Good morning.  May not be too many photos today!  Two hour journey to Sighisoara then a quick look around and then another two hours, by way of Tirgu Mures (whatever that is! ) to Cluj Napoca (capital of Transylvania and as legend has it, birthplace of Vlad the Impaler) for our overnight stay before we venture into Hungary to Budapest ☺️. I may have to back track and put other days photos on🙄🤣

Sue sent me this last night.  Me, Sue and Michaela in Dracula’s Castle. Just in case you didn’t recognise me🙄

On route to Sighisoara

So ignore the above comment about Vlad. His birthplace was Sighisoara! It must be true because this plaque says so!

We had a tour around the citadel which was very nice and again very colourful and we had more lovely weather

The clock tower in the back ground
City Hall
Shoe makers tower
Monument to Vlad the Impaler
The figurines top left and right used to chime at 6am and again at 6pm which signified the start and then the end of the working day. They don’t work any more🤷🏻‍♀️
More steps today! 175 of them up and another 175 back down again🙄. Not as steep as those yesterday. I need to Google how many we climbed yesterday
I look super tall in this photo🤣
Apparently the Prince of Wales now King Charles stayed in this hotel. He likes Transylvania so I’m told
My hotel for tonight. Very brief stop off here. Hope the pillows are better than the last hotel🙄🤣
Think it’s a stadium 🙄🤣

So this is my last night in Romania and it’s been so nice. Dracula’s Castle didn’t disappoint. If I could wish for anything it would be that there’s a Transylvania sign that you could have your photo taken in front of! However I didn’t fully realise that Transylvania isn’t a place rather it’s a region so don’t pass any signs🤦🏻‍♀️. I’m also disappointed that I haven’t come across any blood of Dracula sweets for me to take back to work. They don’t even have wind up coffins with Dracula in, like a jack in a box! They really need me to do their marketing for them! I have a Liz ism as it’s rather a long story, as I don’t think I told you about the man that fell to sleep and fell out of his seat down onto the steps by the toilet, I’ll tell you about that tomorrow on my long journey to Hungary. It’ll pass the time😆

Update. We didn’t stop at Tirgu Mures 🤦🏻‍♀️ so not sure why the mention in the itinerary 🤣 and there are only 100 steps up to the white tower in Brasov but boy did it feel like 1000! Still not as exhausting as the steps up from the underground at Covent Garden! Trust me🥵

PS someone I don’t know has liked my blog!? How is that even possible🤔
